Never ask somebody else to do something you wouldn’t do yourself, right?
All the time I tell clients they should hire Taylor as their photographer because she’s the best, and I mean it. Having Taylor take our photos was a dream come true. Taylor taught me how to be an artist. She saw potential in me and she sees potential in things every day for great art, that is her gift. Evan and I have wanted to have her as our photographer since we met her so many years ago, and I still can’t believe it all came together and actually happened.
When Evan and I decided we wanted to do something special and international for our 5 year anniversary (below, and also here), we realized it was the perfect opportunity for another dream: to launch The Project. Never ask somebody else to do something you wouldn’t do yourself, right?
So after getting our own photos taken, we hopped over the Strait of Gibraltar to photograph some of the most amazing young women in Morocco, for an organization called Education For All. You can see that shoot here!
Shannon and Evan are the kind of people who map everything out, laying out hopes and dreams together. Years ago, they mentioned we had to travel together. Why would I ever say no to traveling with two of the people I love the most in this world?! So when they asked me months in advance if I could come with them to Spain, the ideas already started flooding my brain for posing/outfits/insane landscapes….ART!
When trying to describe what the experience meant, I can’t. It was a whirlwind of emotion- I’m still trying to grasp onto the fact that they chose me and trusted me with such important moments. I can never thank them enough for their generosity for allowing me to come with them and for opening up their marriage to me.
Towards the end of the trip they read aloud to each other letters that still stir my heart and encourage me to love more profoundly, to pursue honesty even when it’s painful, and to trust where the Lord is leading you on this journey together. Thank you Evan & Shannon for making art with me. Thank you for opening the door for others to see what you have and hopefully wanting to emulate it the way I do.
Did you know you can donate your wedding photographers? It’s true!
